Seagulls had 4 swimmers representing us at the Regional Youth Championships in Plymouth. Taylor ‘Swift’ Eeles, Eve Goldsack, Ellen Broadfield and Abi Richardson.

Taylor had 5 events over the three day event at his first ever Regionals. ‘Swift’ in the 15 year age group secured new long course personal bests in all his events, 100m Freestyle 1.02.09, 100m Backstroke 1.12.86, 50m Backstroke 33.37, 50m Butterfly 30.65 and 50m Freestyle 27.77. An excellent meet for Taylor gaining invaluable experience for the future events of his swimming career.

Eve Goldsack the distance Butterfly specialist had a superb meet in Plymouth, she had 4 events over the three days. First was the 100m Freestyle where she went just outside her seasons best in 1.02.48. Next up was her speciality, the 200m Butterfly, where in her heat she a 2.31.40 which landed her a spot in the final. Eve managed to step up and swipe another second off finishing in 7th place in a time of 2.30.75. Her third event was the Freestyle sprint, Goldsack again just outside her seasons best in 29.59. Eve in her final event of the weekend finished on a high of a new long course personal best in the 100m Butterfly 1.08.65. Excellent Eve, well done.

Ellen Broadfield, qualified for two events over the long weekend. The short distance Breaststroke swimmer secure herself a personal best in the 50m Breaststroke in 36.55 which put her into the 16 year old final. Just outside her heat time she swam 36.84 and came in 8th overall. Ellen also swam the 100m Breaststroke coming in outside her entry time in 1.24.11. This meet confirmed Ellen’s place as a top 10 Breaststroke sprinter for a second consecutive year.

Abi Richardson just having the one event, the 50m Freestyle, the third Seagull swimmer to swim a personal best heat to get into the final. She swam a 29.06 in the heat, so close to that elusive 29 second barrier. In the final she was just outside her new personal best finishing in 29.21 and in 9th place overall.

Solid swims from all at the weekend. 3 out of 4 finalist and all managing to come back home with a new personal best. Super job Seagulls, very well done!
