Dorset County Distance Championships February 2017
Seagulls had a flock of 9 that travelled down to Dorchester on Sunday 12th February. From 9 swims we had 8 personal best times, 5 medals, 1 Gold ?, 2 Silver ?? and 2 Bronze ??. Followed up by two fourth places and a 5th place. We also bagged the most improved club with an average entry vs result time percentage gain of 3.34%, beating Swim Bournemouth on 2.42% and Poole on 1.03%!
Miles ? Ward
Miles swam a 9 second personal best, breaking the club record, winning the 14 year old age group and coming in second in the Junior Championship. Not a bad afternoon he finished in 17.43.95.
In the 15 year age group James smashed his previous best by 49 seconds. His final time of 17.45.41 breaking the club record shortly until Miles pipped him by 2 seconds. The swim earned him second place in the 15’s and 3rd place overall in the Junior Championships.
‘Magic’ Emily McWilliam
Emily had a fantastic race with two of her main competitors over the 32 lengths. She swam a 31 second best finishing in a time of 10.37.86. She had a great battle in her heat and finished in second place overall in the 12 year old category. Excellent.
Sonny decided on Sunday that he was bored of his old time, so he went out like a train and held pace throughout. Resulting in a Bronze medal in the 14 year age group. Above the medal Sonny swam a HUGE 2 minute and 30 second personal best 18.24.. Exciting stuff Sonny boy!
Edward ‘The EdExpress’ Jaszek
Ed with an entry time of 22.20.30 and a very rushed start at the beginning of the competition in heat 1, showed great character and composure to swim a 42 second personal best. He finished in 21.38.44. The swim earned him a Bronze medal. Good job Jaszek.
‘Lightning’ Lawrence Elliott
12 year old Lawrence swam a 26 second personal best in the same heat as team mate Sonny. He narrowly missed out on silverware for his efforts. Only half a second outside his team mate Ed and third place. He finished 4th overall in 21.38.97, very close over that distance race. Well done!
‘Wicked’ Kai Weeks
Kai showed a lot of courage to enter and continue swimming his race as he was feeling under the weather to say the least. He was just outside his best by a second and finished fourth in the 14’s in the battling swim. Courageous swim Kai, on to the next one!
In the 12 year old girls 800m, Seraphina had a solid swim. She finished 5th overall in her age group and a 9 second personal best to top it off. Her time was 12.02.03.
In the boys 14 year age, Max swam a huge pb beating his old time by 33 seconds. He came in 9th overall in a time of 21.04.09.
