Dorset Graded Meet April 2016
Seagulls had a total of 10 swimmers at the Dorset Graded meet who won 15 medals between them. Seagulls scooped up 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 7 Bronze and three swimmers coming in the top 3 for their age groups.
Winning Top Girl in 10 year old age group, Seraphina Beacham took home two medals, winning the 200m Freestyle in a championship best time with a personal best swim of 25 seconds and beating her closest rival by 22 seconds. She also bagged a Bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke another huge pb taking off 14 seconds finishing in 1.37.83. Superb from Seraphina, those morning sessions showing the benefit!
Georgios Mitsios in the 11 years age group bagged 2nd place overall in his age. Mitsios won two Silver medals and a Bronze. In the 200m Freestyle he swam a 22 second personal best in a time of 3.11.57 the first of his Silver’s. His second silver medal came from another Freestyle event, the 50m where again he pb’d slicing off over a second in 40.28. Georgios’s third and final medal came in the 100m Backstroke 1.43.63 a 6 second personal best. Great job Georgios.
Thomas Massie came in at 3rd spot overall in the 9 years age group. Tom won two medals, first medal was in the 100m Individual Medley with a 14 second personal best, 1.49.12 securing Silver. Massie with another personal best in the 50m Freestyle of 7 seconds boasting Bronze from that swim. Top swimming Tom!
Poppy Cordell-Thompson in the 50m Breaststroke grabbed a Gold in the 11 year age group with an 8 second pb, swimming a 47.01.
In the 12 year old Girls, Bethany Awcock won the 50m Backstroke with a 1 second personal best 41.60.
Ollie ‘The Bullet’ Burroughs bagged two medals from the one day meet. First medal coming in the 200m Freestyle smashing 26 seconds off his previous best, 3.18.54 earning him a Bronze medal. He went one better in the 50m Freestyle over a 4 second pb in 40.05 that swim secured a Silver medal.
Lilly Durward swam an 11 second personal best in the Girls 9 years age group in the 200m Freestyle 3.31.93, swimming her way to a Silver medal. Well Done Lilly! Team mate, fellow 9 year old Boy Patrick Atkinson also finished the 200m Freestyle with a medal to show for his efforts, bragging a Bronze for a huge 51 second personal best, 3.30.59.
9 and 10 year old Girls, Naomi Ellis and Lottie Griffin both won top three finishes in the 50m Butterfly, Third spot for Naomi with a massive 10 second personal best, Bronze. Lottie also boasting a Bronze but with an even bigger personal best, 25 seconds off her previous best finishing in 49.64. Great effort Girls!
